For Some reason I decided to sleep for 11 hours yesterday and drink a 240mg rockstar at 6pm. Its 2:50am now and I can’t sleep. And at 5am Im supposed to get up so I can drive my girlfriend to school then go pay a stupid speeding ticket (I got caught by a speed trap doing a small amount over in an area that reasonably should have a high speed limit but they don’t raise it because speed traps make $$$$)(45mph limit on a freeway? Come on, in what world does that make sense?). Now Im hungry and tired and can’t sleep. I work from 4pm to 9pm too. My day is gonna suuuuuuck. I should try and fit a nap in there somewhere.
Oh did I mention my girlfriend lives 15 miles from my house and our college is 25 miles from her house? Yeeeaaahhh, the days gonna suuuuckkk.

yea, long sleeps really fuck with your sleeping patterns.
5am to go drive the GF somewhere? 80 mile trip, thats 2 hours. then an hour at the DMV or w/e to pay the ticket.
8am. you can squeeze another nap in there somewhere

The thing is I make this drive probably 4 times a week. I actually got the speeding ticket on my way home from her house (you can only avoid a sleeping pig for so long)(it drops down from 65 to 55 then 45 all within a mile, its really easy to accidentally speed, especially if you miss a sign which I did that night). I just hate doing this stuff tired.
I’m used to sleeping 4-7 hours a night, when I get 11 I stop thinking clearly and my sleep cycle gets all kinds of fucked up. Its like Im drunk without any of the physical symptoms but with all of the mental symptoms.

take a cold shower, it will help wake you up.
I know what it like having a fucked sleeping scheduale. i’m in engineering, thats like the story of my life. you learn to live with it.
note: I also stay away from the caffiene and crap. its doesnt help you in any way what so ever.

I have ADD, so caffiene actually grounds me a bit and helps my attention span. And I just wanted to clarify I wasn’t trying to speed when I got the ticket; it drops down from 65 to 55 then 45 all within a mile, its really easy to accidentally speed, especially if you miss a sign which I did that night)

Instead of breaking the law write your congress men to change it.

IME when I was on rotating shift work the best way to make it through a day when you’ve got no sleep is push-ups. When you start to get the mind haze (or even worse when you start eye drooping and head-nodding) do a vigorous set of push-ups until you physically can’t do anymore. It buys you around an hour of alertness. Yes, people think you’re weird when you’re doing pushups in a classroom/shipyard/factory floor/rest stop/whatever, but fuck’m. Bonus, when you can settle in for a nap or full sleep the additional physical exhaustion will help you to go under. My record was between 96 and 104 hours (fell asleep on watch so don't know the exact time) you'll make it.

You still broke the law tho.
Write your congressmen.

I've had to reset my schedule a few times. It called a circadian rythim if you want to learn more. Anyway I got to the point were I was up till like 4 am and would sleep till like 12. I had to set alarms to wake me up at a better time. So I would set an alarm for 8am and not nap or anything and it was rough for a little while but I started to fall asleep earlier because I was manually changing my schedule. Maybe something like this would help.

Make sure you let your girlfriend know she’s an inconvenience and you have better things to do with your time >.>
